The Vineyards

Haight LitchfieldHaight-Brown
More than two decades ago, Haight Vineyard planted Chardonnay and Riesling on the slopes of the Litchfield Hills, near the historic town of Litchfield. In 1978, the State Legislature passed a Farm Winery Act and Haight Vineyard became Connecticut's first established winery.

Today, the tradition at Haight continues under the management of the Brown family. The Browns purchased Haight Vineyard from its founder, Sherman Haight Jr, in March, 2007. The Browns intend to maintain the family run winery appeal while at the same providing some much needed love and care to the vineyards and winery.

The Haight-Brown Vineyard and Winery is situated on ten pastoral acres, representative of a New England farm winery. The Tasting Room includes a custom built wine bar for tasting each of the eleven vintages, guided by the knowledge of educated and friendly staff, a terrace for sipping wine in lazy summer days, and a stone fireplace for lingering during chilly winter ones.

The Haight-Brown Farm Shop offers a gift shop, gourmet outpost, and food sampling center.

The Vine Room is complete with an artist's gallery and private tasting bar. Jazz, art, and wine, the perfect combination, is served up on the first Saturday of every month. The room is also available for private functions including tastings and receptions.

Guided Tours
Haight-Brown offers untraditional vineyard tours, complete with muck boots, to introduce you to the roots of wine making; scheduled weekend wine cellar tours as well as by appointment, and flight wine tasting and pairings.

At Haight-Brown, visitors will find the wines they enjoy, in an aura of hospitality, history and New England charm.
