The Vineyards

MaugleSierraMaugleSierra
Maugle Sierra Vineyards is a small specialty winery nestled in the South Eastern Coastal Connecticut appellation. Located in the rural town of Ledyard, Connecticut, on an 18th century, 97 acre farm. Maugle Sierra Vineyards is just 10 minutes North of Mystic Seaport, 5 minutes East of Foxwoods and 10 minutes West from the Mohegan Sun casinos.

Established in 2002, by Paul and Betty Maugle, Maugle Sierra Vineyards is dedicated to producing premium wines. Our first vineyard, planted in 2002 with St. Croix grapes produces intensively fruit forward red wine and dessert wines. Our second vineyard planted in 2007 with Traminette and Cayuga White vines. We presently have 11 acres in grape production and add more each year.

Dr. Maugle, co-founder and winemaker, is known for his chewy, Jamie and intensively fruit forward wines. In 2008, we opened our Boutique winery specializing in our estate St. Croix Wine and our dessert wine “Essencia de St. Croix” as well as other fine hand crafted wines.

Visitors who come to the winery for a wine tasting or a glass of wine are welcome to bring their own picnic lunch and enjoy our wine patio. Visitors are welcome to sit back, take a deep breath, and relax with friends, family and wine. Winery tours are available by appointment and winemaking questions are always welcome. We currently make 5 wines, one white and three red and a Rose’. Our wines range from Dry to semi-sweet; pure varietals and a variety of blended wines.
